Resumo: With the evolution of the computational capability and the Finite Element Method various topology optimization methods have been developed. Among them, the method called Evolutionary Structural Optimization (ESO) has been established in the solving structural problems through the application of heuristic procedures in the analyzes. In this work, the problem of topology optimization is solved through the use of the ESOalgorithm developed in a platform for programming available in commercial software Abaqus®. The main purpose is the validation of a simple algorithm capable to provide optimal structures, subject to various initial and boundary conditions. To validate the implemented routine, numerical examples obtained from the literature were analyzed, involving static and dynamic conditions under material volume restriction. Moreover, a numerical example involving geometric nonlinearity behavior and other design variables is solved in order to prove the advantages related to the use of developed script associated with the commercial software. The methodology developed was efficient and simple, indicating very similar results to those found in the literature. At the end, conclusions and discussions are done regarding the developed research and suggestions for future work in this area of research were presented.
