Biomas em foco: um estudo investigativo com alunos do ensino médio em uma escola pública de Guanhães/MG

Resumo: This paper presents a stream teaching concerning Brazilian Biomes, developed with students in the 3rd year of public high school from Guanhães/MG. The objective was to encourage students through a planning and development of investigative activities and educational games. The students recognized the main characteristics of Brazilian Biomes, their conservation status and the challenges of preservation, and where their own district resides on. Students, in general, have great difficulty with this topic, which is often neglected by the biology teacher. This may be due to the different types of Brazilian Biomes and World Biomes, and also the difficulty of memorizing so many peculiar characteristics among them. It is common for students to remain in doubt, especially about the biome of the region where they live. For the development of the proposal the students were divided into groups and each of them worked with one of the biomes present in Brazil. The students were encouraged to characterize these biomes considering climatological aspects, geomorphological aspects, rainfall and vegetation. Based on this information, the students investigated their own district’s biome, characterizing its state of conservation and main threats. In addition, they proposed the construction of educational games. This project had its results presented to the school community during a science fair. Its execution helped students to understand the dynamics of Brazilian biomes and to distinguish them through their vegetation characteristics.
