Resumo: | In this work we synthesized three bis-imines formed by the condensation between salicylaldehyde and phenylenediamine (ortho and meta) or mphthaldialdehyde and o-aminophenol with yields ranging from 70% to 90%. These bisimines were reduced to the bis-amines using sodium borohydride and cerium chloride in yields ranging from 75% to 89%. These six compounds were complexed with ruthenium chloride (III) to form six ruthenium (III) complexes with yields ranging from 42% to 65%. Thereafter, the ruthenium complexes were applied in catalyzing the oxidation reaction of alcohols and all the complexes showed catalytic activity for this reaction. Thereafter, the ruthenium complexes were applied in catalyzing the oxidation of alcohols, in the presence of tert-butylhydroperoxide (TBHP) and all complexes showed catalytic activity for this reaction. Subsequently the complex that showed the best result, 2Ru, was used to study the optimization of this reaction varying the oxidant, solvent, catalyst and temperature. With the optimized parameters, the best condition was applied in the oxidation of 5 benzylic alcoholswith different pattern of substitution and an aliphatic secondary alcohol, with the purpose to rationalize the reactivity of such oxidative process and evaluate the applicability of the new ruthenium complexes oxidations. |
