Resumo: Of the problems experienced today, one of them is of an environmental nature, driven by the great generation, and the unbridled consumption of products, with subsequent environmentally inappropriate disposal of Solid Waste (RS), these types of attitudes come with the growth of industrial production, the consumerism, programmed obsolescence and the subsequent inappropriate expenditure of RS in the environment, adding to the increase in environmental problems and having catastrophic consequences for the quality of life. Therefore, this study promoted the analysis of the RS theme in the National Curricular Common Base (BNCC) and in the Geography Didactic Book of the final years of Elementary School, two educational elements that are inserted and significantly intervene where students learn essential knowledge that will lead to life. The method used in this research was Historical and Dialectical Materialism, through a qualitative approach and with documentary and bibliographic research. Initially, a literature review was carried out, thus being used the bibliographic research and for the analysis of the normative document of the BNCC and the textbooks, the documental research is used, which, it was chosen in this way when realizing that with a single approach it would be more difficult to reach the proposed objectives, and that for each moment of the research the most appropriate approach was used. To this end, the methodological procedures were followed by a literature review in books, articles, theses and dissertations, then the analysis of the BNCC, in a general way and then concentrated on the issue of RS, concomitant with the appreciated verification of two collections containing in total eight copies, being channeled the investigation of the presence of the content of the RS, in relation with that with that presented in the BNCC. As results obtained, this research points out that in relation to the BNCC in which the school period from the sixth (6th) to the ninth (9th) year is concerned, there are no words that directly refer to the RS theme, although it is very suggestive, that it be worked within the environmental themes and socio-environmental problems, that is, the theme is not presented at this school stage as being a relevant content, also in relation to the textbook what was observed is that this theme presents itself as an underlying causative element problems to water resources, soils, and urban society, in this way it is presented as an element without any prominence in the final years of elementary school.
