Resumo: |
This work presents a methodology to investigate high voltage control problems in electrical power systems based on steady stated and time domain computer simulations. The steady state analyses determine the V-Q curves using conventional power flow models. Time domain simulation uses conventional transient stability models to reproduce the phenomenon in details and to validate steady state results. This methodology is tested in the October 10th events with particular interest in the state of Maranhão power system behavior. The results reveal that the events cause voltage control problems in the area under investigation and the load shedding, the control action taken at that time, results in a stable operation condition. On the other hand, as an illustrative case, it is tested an alternative control action using shunt capacitors under an unstable operation condition. The steady state simulation shows that this control action reduces the bus voltage level, whilst time domain simulation shows that these control actions raise the bus voltage level. Before this work, no proper investigation had been carried out to investigate voltage control problems in the state of Maranhão high voltage power system. |
