Resumo: The pharmacological control of the inflammatory process resulting from the surgery of impacted third molars arouses interest among dental surgeons, for the surgical results in undesirable morbidities in the patient such as edema, trismus and pain. In this pharmacological control, a dexamethasone has been highlighted due to its high anti-inflammatory potency, absence of mineralocorticoid activity and long biological half-life. However, different dosages and routes of administration for its use are mentioned in the literature, however, there is still no defined therapeutic protocol. The application of dexamethasone, in relation to a third-party surgery, can result in positive results and constitute an efficient therapeutic alternative, to allow a higher concentration of non-local drug of surgery. This may represent an advantage in the route of topical administration to inhibit the related chemical mediators. (1) perform an integrative bibliographic review, an end of analysis as administration routes and dosages of dexamethasone for the control of edema, trismus and non-postoperative pain of impacted third molar extraction; And (2) Buy the administration of dexamethasone 4 mg orally and intra-alveolar non-inflammatory control after surgery of impacted lower third molars.
