Resumo: |
This study conducts a spatio-temporal analysis of the influence areas of the Itaqui Port Terminal in São Luís, Maranhão. Focusing on water systems and permanent preservation areas, it adopts an interdisciplinary methodological approach, including satellite image analysis and historical geographical data from 1960 to 2020, based on MAPBIOMAS collection data. The analysis reveals significant changes in landscape configuration and land use, highlighting the environmental impacts of port expansion. This observation reinforces the complex interactions between port advancement and local ecology. The research also involves a detailed analysis of current environmental legislation and its effective implementation in managing the areas affected by the port. Furthermore, the study suggests strategic recommendations for balancing port growth with environmental preservation, emphasizing the importance of integrated planning and environmental management strategies. Contributing significantly to urban and environmental planning, the work establishes guidelines for future port developments aligned with environmental sustainability. |
