The family plays a fundamental role in the development and learning of individuals, to mediate their interactions, the child's relationship with the world and in the process of knowledge construction becomes, in this way, the first core and school integration social people. Thus, it emphasizes the importance of family in the education of visually impaired people, although it is sometimes seen by professionals as a disturbing element of his work, perceived as overprotective of their children with disabilities. This is a quantitative and qualitative research, field, being conducted case studies with five families (fathers and mothers) of six adolescents with blindness, whose inclusion criteria were: students aged 12-15 years, who studied in schools of the federal, state or municipal school, receiving specialized care at the Center for the Visually Impaired Educational Support (CAPDV) in contraturno with low income, no other (s) deficiency (s) associated (s), received the continuous benefits granted by the government and lived in São Luís - MA. The instrument for data collection was semi-structured interview with the parents selected. The results showed that there is a positive relationship between parents' expectations and their way of monitoring the educational life of their children. Parents, even those who do not have a higher instructional level, carry a huge effort to contribute to the process of education and expect their children to plot a route different from yours. Parents indicate that forms of help are basically on their children to leave school and seek, buying school supplies and reading books at home. We conclude that parents / mothers of this research, in its perception and speeches, participate effectively in the process of education of their children. |
