Resumo: |
In this work, nanocatalysts of Pt/C, PtRe/C PtIr C and PtW/C supported on carbon were prepared by the alcohol reduction process and characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The electrochemical behavior of nano catalysts in the presence of ethanol and glycerol were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry. The results indicated that the nanoparticles PtRe/C showed better catalytic performance in the range of interest potential for direct alcohol fuel cells, up to 0.6 V. It can be suggested that this behavior is due to the presence of Re that intensified the catalyst performance aiding the formation of more reactive sites to improve the oxidation process. |
