Resumo: Waste generated by a metal forming industry can cause serious environmental problems, due to the latent toxicity of certain types of waste. This study aimed to analyze the amount of solid waste generated in an industry located in São Luís - MA in order to propose a Plan of Solid Waste Management that meets it. Active in the production of goods aimed at civil construction, the company uses as raw material metallic alloys steel to produce trusses, column screens, steel tubes and profiles, rollers galvanized steel, rebar, among other products. As for research methods carried out, in order to know the productive processes involved in the industry, field visits were carried out involving observation of production processes and questions to the employees responsible for the general services sector, who provided data related to the company's physical environments and the respective waste production in the first half of 2021. For the preparation of the PGRS eight steps were followed in the following order: identification of generated waste, identification of the quantities generated, segregation and packaging, temporary storage of waste, transport, final destination, setting goals to reduce waste generated and train the team. Finally, in accordance with the Federal, State and Municipal Laws of the place of installation of the industry, as well as norms and normative resolutions, this work presents a proposal for a Plan of Solid Waste Management (PGRS) with the aim of disposal correct end of the generated waste, contributing to a more sustainable production and in compliance with public health, as well as promoting the development sustainability and the preservation of the environment. In case of implementation of the PGRS proposed, it becomes possible to correctly separate the generated waste and forwarding them to the actual final destinations. In this study, it was concluded that part of them could be reinserted in the production chain, by being recycled or remanufactured, or still, receive the environmentally correct destination, in the case of what are considered as tailings.
