Resumo: The numerous practices involving animals, such as their use for scientific experimentation, use of fur for the fashion industry, entertainment and food, have led to discussions in various public and private spaces. In addition, they bring dissent to the public, even affecting judicial decisions and choices made by the state, given the lack of structures and conditions necessary to ensure sufficient levels of protection for non-human animals. The ethical debates surrounding the relationship between humans and nonhumans are increasingly delineating the condition of man as a being inserted into the environment and moving beyond a purely anthropocentric view. The actions of national, international and local bias involving the performance of the most diverse NGOs make the need for urgent debate. The lack of public policies or their insufficiency has led countless members of the civil society of the city of São Luís - MA to unite in favor of animal welfare. Indeed, animals are not the target of public policies, especially castration and withdrawal, and remain on the public road without protection, without food, subject to being run over and diseases. Social networks are the scene of several calls for help for animals in pitiful situations and have also served as a means of interconnecting people from different social classes, ethnicities, genders in order to help rescue the dignity of different animals and the promote new habits, new ways of relating with other inhabitants of the earth orb.
