Resumo: |
The growth in demand for electrical energy, the depletion and increasing cost of non renewable energy sources, together with growing environmental and climate concerns, constitute reasons for the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy matrix. In this scenario, ocean energy from tidal currents becomes a viable option. This energy source has an intermittent, low-frequency character and its predictability is guaranteed due to its relationship with astronomical phenomena. Brazil has states with some of the largest tidal ranges in the world, such as Maranh˜ao, Par´ a and Amap´a, where variations can reach 6 to 10 meters. This study aims to model seven commercial hydrokinetic turbines, simulating their operation in specific locations and carrying out a comparative analysis of their performance in response to the annual tidal profile observed at two energy generation sites: Boqueir˜ ao Channel and the surroundings of Caranguejo Island. The methodology adopted is based on the application of performance metrics, considering total energy production. An economic analysis was performed based on the levelized cost of energy. The results obtained allow a comparison between the commercial turbines evaluated, highlighting the Tocardo T1 in configuration A as the most efficient when operating in the Boqueir˜ao Canal. |
