Objective: The purpose of this study was to translation, cross-cultural adapt and validate the Gillette Functional Assessment Questionaire (FAQ) into Brazilian Portuguese. Methods: The translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the FAQ was performed according to international recommendations of the COSMIN (2019) e guidelines of Beaton (2000). O FAQ was applied in a sample of the 102 with cerebral palsy diagnostic. In this study was assessed construct validity and ceiling and floor effects. The construct validity was assessed using the Spearman correlation coefficient (rho). The FAQ score was correlated with the other instruments used in the study: Functional Mobility Scale (FMS) and Gross Motor Function Classification Scale (GMFCS). A subsample of 50 individuals was used to assess test-retest reliability using the intra-class correlation coefficient (ICC), standard error of measurement (SEM) and minimum detectable change (MDC). Floor and ceiling effects were also assessed. Results: The Brazilian version of the FAQ showed excellent test-retest reliability of the p (ICC = 0.99) and of the respondent (ICC = 0.97), as well as excellent inter-examiner reliability (ICC = 0.94). The SEM was 0.23 (physical therapist), 0.47 (respondent) and 0.64 (inter-examiner), while the MDC was 0.64 (physical therapist), 1.29 (respondent) and 1.76 (inter-examiner). The GMFCS presented high correlation with FAQ applied by physical therapist and by respondent (rho=-0.89 and rho=0.87, respectively). The FMS-5m was highly correlated with the FAQ applied by the physical therapist and respondent (rho = 0.88 and rho 0.87, respectively). The FMS-50 and FMS-500 presented very high correlation with the FAQ applied by the physical therapist (rho = 0.91 for both) and high correlation with the FAQ applied by the respondent (rho = 0.89 and rho = 0.88, respectively). The Brazilian version of the FAQ did not present the ceiling and floor effects. Conclusion: The FAQ presented properties of adequate measure in patients with cerebral palsy indicating its use as a measure of mobility functional in the gait in Brazil is possible. |
