Resumo: The objective was to evaluate the effect of the tire rubber content and corona treatment on the physico-mechanical properties of MDP and cement-wood. The corona treatment was applied to the rubber particles for a period of 20 minutes. The proportions employed for the substitution of wood by tire rubber were 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%. The MDP panels were produced with nominal density of 0,7 g/cm³, relation face/core/face of 20/60/20, with levels of 11 and 7% ureaformaldehyde adhesive (dry weight basis of particles) for the faces and core, respectively, the pressing temperature was 200 ° C and pressure of 4 MPa for a period of 8 minutes. The cement-wood panels were manufactured with a nominal density of 1,2 g/cm³, using cement type CPV ARI. The proportions used in wood/cement and water/cement was 1/2,75 and 1/2,5; respectively. About 4% of additive (calcium chloride), relative to the cement, were added to the panels which were then pressed at 4 MPa at room temperature. The use of 5% substitution of wood particles by tire rubber particles, for the production of panels wood-cement and MDP, provided improved physical, mechanical and thermal isolation of both panels types.
