Resumo: This work investigates the effect of electric and magnetic fields on metallic structures set as center pivot irrigation systems in the vicinity of electric power transmission lines. Transmission lines are characterized by intense electric and magnetic fields, and become more and more present around agricultural production areas. Depending on the attributes of the structures and the relative position or intensity of current in the line, effects such as electrification of the structure, emergence of undesirable currents with possible risk of burning of control equipment, and/or electric shock may occur. Computational experiments have shown that in the vicinity of up to 345 kV lines induction can be potentially dangerous scales in the case of metal structures of the order of tens of meters in length. This study investigates the induction of current in the pivot in the vicinity of lines. Scale tests were performed, in which there was significant induction of pivot chains at distances up to ten meters from the lines. This study also evaluated the effect of soil on the induced current and the degree of risk to human beings in function of legislations and recommendations.
