Resumo: | Several methodologies for the synthesis of iron oxide particles in nonaqueous medium have been studied in recent years, since they have an excellent control over the size and shape of the particles, as well as crystallinity, purity, etc. In this context, the new synthesis method proposed in this dissertation aims to produce iron oxides in non-aqueous medium from reagents from industrial residues such as citrus pectin and glycerol. In addition, through the insertion of different copper contents in the materials, we sought to identify the influence of this metal in the formation of oxides phases, which were characterized by infrared vibration spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray fluorescence and vibrating sample magnetometry. In addition, the degree of pectin esterification was analyzed by a potentiometric titration, this determination being important to evaluate the interactions of this polysaccharide with the copper and iron metals. The association of these techniques evidenced the presence of the hematite and maghemite phases in different proportions for each material. When tested in photo-Fenton reactions, the materials containing copper in the structure showed better degradability of the blue methylene compound, since this metal plays a very important role for photocatalysis reactions. |
