Resumo: The present work seeks to bring reflections on adaptations of the myth of Heracles, considering what his role in/for contemporary society consists of. The research takes cinema as its research object, reflecting on the use of films that portray this myth, aiming to understand the different ways in which the myth was represented. We seek to understand the cultural context in which the productions are involved and how their diffusion through cinema creates a new perspective and perception of myths for contemporary times, collaborating, through their narratives, for the formation of a notion about history/History, influencing in building a vision about the past and its uses in the present society. The central idea is that the cinematographic language, with its technical and artistic elements, has great potential for historical teaching-learning, especially due to its influence on youth culture. In line with the mythical narrative that has fulfilled the role of expressing the desires of societies since antiquity, we take cinematographic audiovisual narratives as being able to exercise an analogous role, using the popularity of mythology.
