O esporte em Goiânia nos tempos do estado novo: um dispositivo de transformação dos corpos

This research deals with the education of bodies in Goiânia in the period of the Estado Novo, with sport as the main device in the urban scene. The general objective of the research is to investigate how the sport was constituted as a model and practice of body education in Goiânia in the period 1937/1945. This cut covers the existence of Goiânia from its configuration as the seat of state power (1937) until the end of the Vargas Era and, in Goiás, the government of Pedro Ludovico Teixeira (1945). To achieve the goal outlined, as a source, we used the newspaper Correio Oficial de Goiás, as it exposes the presence of sport in the daily life of the city. The references that are being used, on the other hand, are studies and research that focus on the history of body education and the history of sport such as Carmen Lúcia Soares (2012), Marco A. Taborda de Oliveira (2004), Ricardo Lucena (2001), Meily A. Linhales (2009), Cleber Dias (2012) and (2019), Ribeiro (2020), Melo (2012, 2005), among others. We also spoke with authors from Goiás and national historiography such as Nasr Chaul (2018) and education historians such as Miriam Fábia Alves (2007) and Rubia-Mar Nunes Pinto (2009), among others. Special emphasis is given to issues related to the body of the Goians, especially, showing that the transformation of Goian bodies towards the disappearance of jequismo was part of the Goiânia project.
