Resumo: The research presented here - "Valparaíso de Goiás-GO: the place of identity, the identities of the place - 1995/2010" - aims to understand the identity and symbolic relations between the residents of Valparaiso de Goiás and the Federal District. More: expresses the uniqueness of a city whose residents, in a condition of "ubiquity", aims to establish residence in the Federal District. Valparaiso de Goiás has its genesis in the migratory movement to the construction of Brasilia. The capital of the country continues to attract people that want to live there, but cannot settle. The fate of these people is the cities of Brasilia‟s Metropolitan Area - BMA, including Valparaiso de Goiás. Though they fix residence in another city is in Brasilia or in its Administrative Regions - ARs that significant numbers of people search of work and for public equipment of health, education and leisure. It is common for these people to leave the city housing too early and only return at night. Observed the condition of Valparaíso de Goiás, about the supply of labor to the Federal District, notice the position of centrality of this city in relation that district. This peculiarity was named "inverted Centrality." The city, by this logic, is essential to relieve the district space of housing search and labor. The relationships pointed promote an apparent difficulty to establishment between city dwellers of a sense of belonging to it. The problem that led to these reflections was: how to structure the social identity of these people who live in a state of ubiquity? We consider the triangulation of methods as being the one that best meets the objectives of the research. For this we use the Qualitative and Quantitative research plus the Participant Research. At this methodology was added various types of sources and resources that enriched the data collection, among these we mention the use of oral interviews. The central theoretical assumption of the research is that the social parameters of the population of Valparaíso de Goiás were established with the Federal District to the detriment of the state of Goiás. Based on this assumption became evident that the sense of belonging of the residents of Valparaiso de Goiás occur in relation to Brasilia.
