Resumo: This paper intends to investigate the method of gathering news in the opinative journalism from the point of view of objectivity, and for this, the column Giro, from the newspaper O Popular, will be analyzed, a political column of notes by definition. Thus, understanding objectivity as a method (KOVACK; ROSENSTIEL, 2004), the senses linked to objectivity present in the journalist's final work will be verified. So, if the objectivity is in the method of search for the truth (DEMENECK, 2009) and how the method of calculation is fundamental to determine the quality of responsible journalism, considered as ethical, it must exist independently of the journalistic genre. This work uses the theoretical-methodological approach of Newsmaking in its completeness to analyze both the journalistic product (the marks of objectivity present in the text) and the journalist in action (the dense description of the professional culture and the deontology of the profession). In this way, ethnomethodology proves to be effective in exposing methods of verification in columns and can identify the meanings that refer the objectivity in the text of the columns published the day immediately following the direct observation, through a Discourse Analysis based on Patrick Charaudeau (2015).
