Resumo: |
Understanding of the applied mechanics to biological bases and the ability of utilizing this knowledge in clinical situations are of extreme importance for a successful orthodontic treatment. The science that studies and analyzes the mechanics of living organisms is known as Biomechanics. For a better understanding of the biomechanical principles applied in orthodontics, this subject was summarized in this product, gradually presented and widely illustrated, from the basic concepts of biomechanics to moment-to-force ratios. The purpose of this work is to approach and explain the biomechanical principles, so that students, general practioners and specialists can understand its practical potential in orthodontics, establishing a greater interaction between the exact sciences (mechanics) and the biological sciences (dentistry). |
