This work has as intention to analyze the public communication in the context of the citizenship. We searched to recognize if the social media can be a locus for the exercise of the public communication. For this, we delimited public communication in the sociopolitics context, passing through the conceptions quarrel about social media and citizenship. Finally, we presented a study on the twitter of the governor of Goiás, Marconi Perillo. With this, it is intended to launch some lights on the quarrel and on the debate of this nodal and recent subject in the area of the communication.
