Resumo: This dissertation's subject of study is the images of women musicians who work in the Brazilian Heavy Metal scene, based on a visual and historical-social analysis of the transformations promoted by this musical style and the effects on the construction of new female bodies and the expansion of this phenomenon in recent decades. To do this, we explored the rich iconography and visual aesthetics of the bands Placenta and Nervosa, two representatives of the metal genres in Brazil. In this research with images we operate the concepts of image, culture and identity, exploring how the conduct of conduct organizes the pedagogical processes of resistance and identity construction crossed by power relations established by the field of the world of images, anchored in the theorizations of Stuart Hall, Foucault and Joan Scott, among other contemporary and post-structuralist theorists such as John Berger, Nicholas Mirzoeff, W. J. T. Mitchell who explore visual culture from various perspectives, respectively.
