Resumo: This dissertation discusses about how the differences arise and are negotiated in the obituaries of a newspaper in Curitiba, PR. In order to do so, I am interested on the process of biographies’ production and circulation, especially how they reflect on their own moral values and group norms. The narratives that constitute these biographies depart from a game of information between the family, the journalistic production and the announcement to the public, which refer to notions of mourning, honor and tribute after death. The plots created from these narratives reveal commons axis to these trajectories. However, they are not free of tensioning as a result of disagreement possibilities, as well as the difference affirmation. Therefore, the social markers of difference are not silenced in these obituaries. They may even create discontinuities and new meanings for written biographies.
