Resumo: | Water resources are considered common good, and must be managed in an integrated manner in a way that it make possible to meet various uses, minimizing conflicts and, at the same time, ensuring that future generations have access to them. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the availability of water from Rio São João Basin, more specifically Juturnaiba Dam, as a source of water supply for the Petrochemical Complex of Rio de Janeiro (COMPERJ). The survey also shows the calculation of the current storage volume of the dam, a study of flow of the water bodies of the Rio São João Basin, a survey of demographic changes of the affected towns and the consequent demand for water and also the assessment of rainfall distribution the region as well as its availability of "blue water". The literature review included in this paper seeks to give support to the knowledge of the theoretical aspects of the study and obtaining data, and also includes the laws that regulate water resources in Brazil and in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The use of growth curves for the populations of the region with their trend lines was part of the methodology adopted. That methodology also used data from the flow measuring stations, the contribution of rainwater measured by meteorological stations and equations that will lead to the calculation of the current volume of JuturnaíbaDam. |
