This dissertation had the intention to demonstrate in an objective and clear mode, through the structure of a study of case, the importance to do the technical studies for area classification by multidisciplinary groups of work. In this case, I present an approach with the main theoretic and regulatory characteristics. In the area classification field, present the concepts and main technical fundaments for projects. In another moment, there were proposed a method of work formation and there were presented some structures conditions to be followed to the accomplishment in this type of activities, looking for proposal and analyzing a classification area project, through a study of case in an industrial plant of the petroleum industry. In the conclusions there are presented the final considerations of the hypothetical key formulated in this dissertation with the application of the concepts and technical acquired and the main reflections points
