Resumo: | The study of human factors engineering becomes each time more related to the development of computer applications on all its scopes. Nuclear power plants control rooms are based on complex and life-critical systems where low rate of errors are needed. The question is how to minimize human failures? How to improve better communication between the plant operators and the computer systems? Systems interfaces are the boundary between the machine and the human being. The study of ergonomics applied to Man-Machine Interfaces brings together the human factors and software engineering to a common interest: the final user. This work presents a new methodology for human factors evaluation of Man-Machine user centered Interfaces in nuclear power plants control rooms. Our use-case made possible the direct application of the methodology in a real situation: the nuclear power reactor simulator of the Human Interfaces Laboratory (LABIHS) from the Institute of Nuclear Engineering. The result was a new system, parallel with the original, where the evaluation results from the methology were applied. |
