Resumo: This dissertation presents a case study on programming sequences of liquid steel castings on the Continuous Casting Machines of a big integrated siderurgical plant. The described problem is from complex nature, with the most diverses restrictions, presenting difficulted representation. The considered developed model has the purpose to allow a simplification of the process of programming the production of the equipments of this Steel making plant, standing out that no model in literature was found with the perfect adjust to the reality. The mathematical model is based on a binary linear program, for the continuous casting machine of the steel, where as main factors of modeling the lesser cost (better use of the deliverers), the attendance of the weekly demand of efficient form, and in a time of considerable production for the reduction of the claims of production delays of the orders. A study of the products mix planned it showed that, due to great variety and amount of orders, the election phase was not critical and the sequencing could be semimanually made with aid of the computer. To improve the income of the deliverers the emptying of incompatible degrees becomes necessary, but with small weekly demands, in the same deliverer, what, although to increase the index of plates without lamination itens, still thus diminishes the production costs. The study takes in consideration the total time of production of steel since the casting on the Steel making plant until the steel hot lamination, including the chemical and mechanical assays on the plates and on the bobbins, scurfing and cooling the dry one or to the water. The considered computational system implements a simple algorithm that sequence the group of steel degrees to be leaked in accordance with the demand for them and the lead time of production of each one, representing a good tool of programming sequences for the programmer of the Steel making plant that can stay on accordance with interact and change them the prevalecentes conditions, standing out that this system alone is valid for periods of normal production, and without interferences of possible priorities of production.
