Resumo: Crescent economic development are leading companies act with a competitive advantage, reaching new markets, rationalizing costs and investment selectivity. Jointly with this concern increases environment preservation where, nowadays, several industrial activities have to restructure their management practices from constantly questioning by the public for faulty risk control in their installations, inadequate treatment of safety and environment protection and a lack of responsibility by their products and services. This pressure has lead official agencies and legislators to become more restrictive and demanding upon legislation and to implement administrative proceedings for licensing and discipline some potentially contaminating activities. By these means companies are searching several alternatives seeking environmental performance improvements, among them risk management and consequently optimization and improvement of their resources. The present work proposes the construction of a database for the evaluation of combustion oil and diesel storage system, permitting the development of a methodology that allows the definition of the risk degree for these installations. Risk quantification allows companies investment selection in risk mitigation to reduce risk for installations that potentially produce environment passives. This work aims, through literature review and the use of database risk management for oil storage systems: the use of a database for evaluation of installations; apply a risk management methodology for the determination of risk ranking; report methodology usage findings reached by environmental and safety evaluations among installations and the analysis of other statistical parameters obtained from the database.
