Resumo: This essay aims at verifying if the managing team of change perceives the actuation of a Change Management team as a critical success factor to IT systems project implementations. The dissertation was conceived through literature review of the concepts of change management, resistance to changes, leadership, mobilization and of the implementation model based on three pillars: organizational alignment, organizational communication and organizational training. In this context, another aspect is also analyzed: the actuation of external consultancy companies. Qualitative research was adopted as methodology, by using a single case study, which consisted in the implementation of a Health & Safety informational system carried out in a large Brazilian mining company. In order to diminish the bias in this analysis, the participation of all actors involved in or affected by the change process was taken into consideration. The conclusion of this research indicates that the well structured actuation of a change management team as well as the active participation of the sponsor throughout the process, are considered to be critical success factors for the implementation of IT projects.
