Resumo: | This purpose of this thesis is to understand how the reading comprehension process is a foreing language happens in eight Spanish language didactic manuals published from 1945 to 1999. They are: Manual de Español, Curso Práctico de Español, Curso de Español, Vamos a Hablar, Español en Directo, Entre Nosotros, Antena, Ven. In order to do that, we studied different theoretical orientations researching the specific literature on the subject not only on reading but also on different methodological approaches about the teaching/learning process based on Orlandi (1987), Kato (1999), Leffa (1996) among others, and tried to understand the historical evolution of teaching/learning process in Spanish as a foreign language based on Leffa (1988) and Richards & Rogers (1998). The analysis of the manuals showed of inexistence of texts for reading in a more critical perspective. This was due to the fact that they were produced in a context where the teaching/learning process in a foreign language had its focus on a mechanicist approach an the texts, in fact, served only as an excuse to present linguistic structures, therefore, not considering the use of more complex texts and activities. |
