Resumo: The present work has as objective to evidence the contribution of the intangible capitals in a public organization demonstrating through the model management of the knowledge the importance to know and to apply the intellectual capital that the organization possess. With the globalization the enterprise world presented transformations and values absorbed for the society. Thus, the tangible goods had left of being the main corporative resource, whose knowledge became the differential that provides interactive with the new technological changes, politics, economic and social. Soon, the private company or public, inserted in this new scene must interact, searching brought up to date knowledge to be implemented in this new universe. For in such a way, it was used on the basis of methodology the bibliographical revision, aiming at to show the evolution of the management models, elements, stages and function of the practical ones of the management of the knowledge, and, later was opted to making a questionnaire to be used as tool of application in the research, elaborated on the basis of the model of Edvinsson & Malone (1998), in which if it emphasizes the intellectual capital. The questions had been structuralized having as support concepts of the practical ones of the management of the knowledge. In the tableau and analysis of the results it has of if to evidence that the searched population knows the practical ones of management of the knowledge, however, this fact does not mean that the company has the same wisdom or that she usufructs of such abilities. With effect, one perceives that the company must invest in technology of the information, even so the acquired knowledge are not being spread. It was only evidenced that it does not have the exercise to interact with the external and internal environment, exerting, therefore, a bureaucratic model of management. A change in the management model, integration with the external and internal environment and the use of the technology beyond the information for organizational learning are considered.
