Resumo: | The objective of this study is to offer tools to facilitate the implementation of programs of Social-environmental Management in IES, based on bibliographical investigation. At the same time, it proposes to reflect upon existing models and to propose solutions that can create a new model of sustainability of IES. This study seeks to construct a program of Socialenvironmental Management for Institutions of Higher Learning (IES). The Esperança Institute of Higher Education (IESPES), which serves as the basis for this case study, is located in the Amazon of Brazil. The theoretical references used in this study are the instruments to determine the importance of this model for IES. The study gives weight to considerations such as the leadership role that IES play in society; its contributions to the formation of a society that is more just economically, socially and environmentally. The importance of this study is in the strengthening of IES in the Amazon. Economic and social development is linked to increasing levels of education. Therefore, the local IES must be aware of changes in the environment in order to prepare the human resources to respond to the needs of the region and promote economic, social and environmental development |
