Resumo: This study describes an empirical model for evaluation of the resistance against technological innovation in the pharmaceutical and alimentary industries. Explaining the different phases of this model, as choice of the premises, the identification of the main motivation agents of the implementation, technological innovation and definition of the parameters used in this investigation, used a studies strategy of multiple cases (YIN, 2001), of qualitative nature, to search 10 companies that executed your systems implementation projects between 1998 and 2002. Evaluating the different technical teams of the quality control of microbiological laboratories inside the studied companies, it segmented the different involved groups second their decision power in the different phases of the project and their tendency to form resistance actions in larger or smaller degrees. Based on widespread theoretical references and seeking a multiply knowledge; it had been used concepts of different areas of the human, biological and technological sciences. Enabling for the previous detection of the resistance possible sources, this model is being nowadays used by the industry and environment division of the bioMérieux Inc., manufacturer of those systems. During two years, it has been used as a service customization tool, to formulate prices and for reduction costs of operation. It concludes that internal resistance is a nature exclude phenomenon between groups, what a retard, makes unfeasible or it prevents the innovation process and, therefore, the company growth. The discovery is based on investigation of the structure of the sector, internal communication and cooperation among groups, part of the empirical model used in the analysis of the results. Not being investigated previously, these tendencies to automate and to resist can represent the failure of the strategic guidelines adopted by the company
