Resumo: Ueveioping the levei of management competence is a key factor for any kind of organization. However, there are historical and structurai barriers that conspire against the deveiopment itselt Over this context, offering alternatives for the management seif-deveiopment can contribute to make possibie this so called productivity shock to come true in our economy. In order to make this possibiiity viable, we have formuiate a proposition for a quality guided modei of process management, which intends to be abie to appiy basic skilis for management performance. This option was based on the fact that the historicai administration view, since the classicai perspective, as in Tayior and Fayoi, through the contemporary administration perspective, where an approach for the organization exceiience and a movement for searching quality are inciuded, process improvement have always deserved speciai attention in academic papers, Iooking for higher productivity accompiishment. We have taken the PDCA modei as a basic structure to bring up a new modei that combines each step of PDCA s cycie oriented to concepts and practices acclaimed in the Braziiian business. Therefore, we have brought this modei under the perspective of the wideiy spread quaiity currents TQC, PNQ and ISO 9001. This new paradigm presents a general view over the main activities towards process management, assembkng them according to each pianing, execution, contrai and corrective action step. At iast, this work offers a script for the modei execution, emphasizing the main responsibiiities of a process manager during each step of PDCA s cycie. lhe resuit gathered is a orientated guide for the primary competence self-development, apphed to the process manager.
