Resumo: | This work consists in an analysis of the contingencies described in the EAT-Lancet Report about healthy and sustainable diets. We focused on contingencies related to the consumption of animal proteins, mainly red meat, because this is the practice with more probability of producing harmful effects to one’s health and to the environment. Starting with the discussion of the context of opportunities (i.e., access to reinforcers depending on social and economic position) and considerations about selection by consequences and the tension between immediate and delayed in the context of pro-environmental behavior that, by definition, relates to delayed consequences, we explored possible challenges to implement sustainable behavioral changes related to food consumption. We also discussed the scarcity of studies on behavior analysis and sustainability that deals with eating behaviors, even though these producing harmful effects to the environment. Finally, we argued that the EAT-Lancet report provides possible paths to inform interventions by social/cultural contingency planning and, as such, it is an indispensable document for behavior analysts interested in working with sustainable practices. |
