Resumo: This dissertation is, above all, a study of subjects and their various forms of knowledge relating to Afro-Brazilian and quilombola culture, their narratives, riches and symbolic elements, which serve as a basis for strengthening black identities and which have a great potential for transformation, which enriches, creates and recreates conditions for confronting inequalities. The work is based on the Família dos Eufrásios group, which gave rise to the Córrego do Sossego quilombola community, located in the district of São Tiago in the municipality of Guaçuí, in the southern region of Espírito Santo. The research focuses mainly on the ritual aesthetics of the community's main religious festival, known as Festa do 13 de Maio (May 13th Festival), which according to the narratives has been taking place for over a century, symbolically related to the date of May 13, 1888, the day the Lei Áurea (Golden Law) was registered. The work sought to dialog with other cultural heritage issues, present in the ways of life and know-how connected to the group's territoriality and memory. The research was developed based on fieldwork and bibliographic studies based on the oral narratives of this group, in an attempt to disseminate and value their memory, using as a reference authors who deal with the themes of cultural heritage, cultural aesthetics, memory and issues of quilombola territories. Finally, the research highlights the importance of public policies that meet the demands of this group, guaranteeing them better conditions for survival and permanence in their territory, ensuring means of valorization and visibility of their cultural traditions, as a reparation for the years of attempts to erase these memories; in addition to the recognition and importance of this traditional knowledge in the construction, above all, of social values in Brazilian society.
