Resumo: | The objective of this work was to investigate the flow and dispersion of pollutants in the vicinity of single buildings. Numerical simulations were performed considering the dispersion in neutral, stable and unstable atmospheric conditions over flat terrain with an isolated cubic obstacle. The mathematical modeling is based on the solution of the conservation equations (mass, momentum, energy and chemical species), with the use of the κ−ε standard and the Reynolds Stress Model. Six different variations of the Reynolds Stress Model formulation were tested. The finite volume method with an unstructured mesh is used for the numerical simulation, by using of the commercial software ANSYS-CFX. The numerical results were compared with data obtained of experiments of field and wind tunnel available in literature, as well as with other numerical simulations. A comparison among the results obtained from various turbulence models with experimental data was presented, showing that the Reynolds stress model, based on the equation of ω presents better performance. The results obtained for the simulations under different atmospheric stability conditions indicate that this parameter strongly affects the fluid flow and dispersion around the building. |
