Resumo: The expenses in the execution of constructions represent a big amount in the investments of the Brazilian government. The execution of these works must be followed by representatives of administration, who have the responsibilities of observing the fulfillment of the contractual, technical and administrative rearrangements in all of its aspects, however deficiencies in this process can impact both effectiveness and cost. Many factors affect the success of the execution of a government construction, in regards of the áreas: quality, cost and time. The implementation of managerial strategies that refine and systemize the performance of the Public Administration in government construction. This way, a proposal to the refinement of the management and inspection of government constructions is aimed in an Federal Educational Institute, adopting the approach of Business Process Management (BPM). The research is presented as descriptive, bibliographic, documental and site survey. In the methodology, interviews and questionnaires, with close ended and open ended questions were adopted as instrument for data collection. The data analysis was realized through descriptive statistics, for the closed questions in the questionnaire, and content analysis, for the open questions in the questionnaire and for the interview. A weakness of knowledge in all the phases of execution of a government construction by the public servants was detected. 101 factors that could interfere in the dimensions of quality, cost and time of a construction were identified in the literature and a ranking of its probability of occurrence in construction works was elaborated. It was observed that the servants feel a regular development to the quality and cost dimensions, and bad to the time dimension, Advantages, disadvantages, facilities, difficulties for the implementation of the BPM were also identified. Through the principles of BPM, the Critical Success Factors (CSF), were verfified for the implementation of BPM in a Federal Educational Institute. Finally, a proposal was presented for the improvement of the management and supervision of works
