Resumo: | In the current scenario of optical networks, technology is rapidly changing. New developments presents a significant challenge for researchers involved with the new generation high-performance networks, especially when it comes to optimization of optical fiber's backbones' infrastructure. Optical Transport Networks (OTN) based on Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (WDM) and Synchronous Optical NETwork/Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SONET/ SDH), consolidating as a technology capable of responding to this scenario, while the ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunication Section) is responsible to provide a standardization for manufacturers of equipment and transport network solutions. In short, due to the high costs involved in the development and deployment of new technologies is essential to use simulation tools, allowing the ability to reproduce and compare results from different research fronts more easily. This dissertation aims to provide a general extension, adaptation and integration of previous and current development by the research group of the Laboratory of Telecommunications (LabTel – Laboratório de Telecomunicações) at UFES. These works includes several areas related to optical transport networks, such as control plane, transport plane and automatic discovery functionality |
