Resumo: The species richness of the Atlantic rain forest still threatened and an alternative to reverse this situation is to propose methods for the rational use of his forest resources. This study evaluated silvicultural aspects and the economical viability of pure stands of ten native species in Espírito Santo. These species were planted in the Vale’s Nature Reserve in Linhares and Sooretama, aged 21 to 25 years, as follows: Astronium fraxinifolium (gonçaloalves), Cariniana legalis (jequitibá-rosa), Goniorrhachis marginata (guaribuamarelo), Kielmeyera albopunctata (nagibe ou pau-santo), Lecythis pisonis (sapucaia-vermelha), Manilkara bella (paraju), Pterygota brasiliensis (farinhaseca), Spondias venulosa (cajá-nativo), Vitex sp. (tarumã) and Zeyheria tuberculosa (ipê-felpudo). The study was divided into two chapters. The first discussed the evaluation silvicultural toward the production of sawn timber, using twelve evaluation factors, including quantitative and qualitative information, primary and secondary, which allowed to generate a classification method and quantitative ranking of the species. In the second, the focus of which was the economic evaluation, it was determined the production costs and the revenues from the sale of timber and the possibility of sale of seeds and fruits. The evaluation silvicultural generated the highest scores for gonçaloalves (75,8 points), sapucaia-vermelha (75 points) and jequitibá-rosa (72,9 points). The total cost for establishing a hectare of forest was R$ 16,964.89, of which 74% corresponded to implantation and 26% to maintenance. The total cost of production involving the production of standing timber and seeds and fruits per hectare ranged from R $ 38,944.80 (guaribu-amarelo) to R$ 70,067.72 (sapucaia-vermelha). The largest share of the total cost of the projects was the cost of land. Revenues from timber production ranged from R$ 13,030.57 (nagibe) to R $ 103,325.98 (caja-nativo) and the production of seeds and fruits of R$ 1,008.00 (tarumã) to R$ 310,050.00 (sapucaia-vermelha). In the sensitivity analysis the discount rate was the most influential factor in the viability of the projects. Nagibe, farinha-seca and tarumã showed no positive NPV, in any scenario assessed. The marketability of seeds and fruits shown to be an important alternative of source income, even in conditions of low market demand especially for sapucaia-vermelha.
