Resumo: The objective of this work to estimate the nutritional levels of lysine and methionine plus cystine (M+C) based on ideal protein concept with and without addition of the most limiting amino acids to Japanese quail. Were used 1008 japanese quails in two experiments with average body weight of 178.73 g in the period 45-129 days of age, in completely randomized experimental design. In the first experiment, seven lysine levels consisting of five levels of lysine with the repeated treatments with the lowest levels in two other treatments and added 10% of methionine plus cystine and threonine compared to the ideal protein concept. Following the same reasoning in the first experiment was conducted a second study with methionine plus cystine digestible evaluating seven treatments consisting of five levels of digestible M+C and the treatments with the lowest levels were repeated and each added 10% the amount of lysine and threonine, based on ideal protein profile, the treatments in both experiments had eight replicates and nine birds per experimental unit. The experimental period lasted 84 days, divided into four periods of 21 days. We evaluated the performance characteristics and quality of eggs. The results obtained in the first study no recovery can be concluded that Japanese quail need to maximize performance characteristics and quality of egg, 1.30% digestible lysine with consumption of 309.41 mg of lysine, when using lysine as the amino acid with the addition of other values were not able to maximize production. From the data obtained from the second experiment no enhancement was obtained 0.84% digestible M+C in the diet, corresponding to a daily intake of 202.96 mg of methionine plus cystine and value was obtained when used next addition of other amino acids, 0.82% digestible M+C with a daily intake of 197 mg of methionine plus cystine
