Resumo: The masters’ thesis "Animated Cinema in Arts Teaching: Experience and Narration in the Child’s Formation" is inserted in the Education and Language Research Area of the Post-Graduation Program of Education of the Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo. It aims at analyzing how collective experience (Erfrahung) and individual experience (Erlebnis) are expressed in the process of animated movies production, in particular in children’s formation, in which they go from the audience to the authors/productors’ place. It also intends to analyze how these experiences are expressed in their oral and visual narratives. Mediated by the moving image, the research analyzes the narratives of children and their demonstrations of experience that engender the school learning and, also, their social-historical-cultural livings. This approach dialogues with Walter Benjamin as it investigates the “experience” and “living” concepts, broadened by Vigotski’s reflections on mediation, appropriation, creation and imagination. The interlocution with Manuel Jacinto Sarmento broadens conceptions of the child/childhood concept, approaching it as an active/participating social being, inserted in a society and in a culture. From this theoretical support, this research develops in Arts classes of the 2nd grade class, throughout the year of 2012, in the Rural School "Santa Isabel", in Domingos Martins, Espírito Santo. By a collaborative research, in which children, the class’s responsible teacher, the school community and the researcher participated, the children produced animated cinema, with the “stop motion” technique. They demonstrated their individual and collective experiences and broadened their livings concerning fruition, production, and relations of children subjects against the digital media with their pairs, appropriating the artistic language and becoming authors/producers. In this sense, as they discussed the cinematographic concepts, such as modeling, images sequencing, videos recording and editing, children meaningfully broadened their experiences and took on a leading role in the knowledge production. Hence, we noticed a sensible increase of the experience that crosses an animation’s production for the built, lived and established relations by the creating act.
