Resumo: The present study evaluated physicochemical properties of two heavy oils, with API gravity 13.7 °API by mixing with bioproducts and with API gravity 16.8 ºAPI by blending with lighter oil (56.0 ºAPI). In the addition of bioproducts to the oil, eight samples were produced, with 1% lignin (in naturaand modified) and saponin. The rheological properties, total acid number (TAN) and pour point were evaluated. Pour point have no decay as compared to oil value before bioproducts. However, for the values of viscosity and TAN, the maximum reduction percentage was 7% and 11%, respectively. The second stage of the study evaluated the dilution of a heavy oil with 16,8 ° API density with high acidity (TAN3,35) with a paraffinic light oil with density 56,0 ° API. In all, six blends were prepared in the proportions of 1, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50% v/v added volumes. There was no destabilization of heavy oil components. It was observed that the optimum volume of addition was 20%. At this volume the viscosity reduced 92%, pour point decayto -30 °C, TANreduced 22%, sulfur content 19% and API gravity increased to 19.4 °API. Thus, it was evident that physicochemical properties evaluation was effective for evaluation of the methods. In spite of the alternative use of bioproducts for the heavy oils improvement, results indicate that dilution technique continues to obtain better results.
