Resumo: This research analyzes the signification process of Agroecology in journalistic matters produced by news sites with hegemonic and counter-hegemonic profile in the southeast region, of Brazil. From the concept of Agroecology delineated by science and by social movements, this study examines the transition of agroecological discourse when inserted in the discursive formation of journalism. Considering the discursive and non-discursive context in which the news is inserted, it was observed the low visibility attributed to the theme and the absence of social movements as sources of the news produced by hegemonic journalism, whereas in counterhegemonic journalism the participation of social movements presented itself as decisive for the discussion of the agroecological theme. The analysis of the content also presented contrasting results between the two journalism profiles, the first ones used the word in matters that, as a rule, only touched the theme and the second presented a considerable amount of texts that presented principles, public policies, social mobilizations, risks related to pesticides, among other information related to the theme. The theoretical assumptions of Critical Discourse Analysis led to research and the environmental dimension was also evidenced through the analysis of the environmental discourses present in the texts.
