Resumo: | Many processes of friction welding have been studied, among which stands out a process known as Friction Surfacing. This technique consists on deposition of the material by one bolt at other material using increases rotations and forces. To perform it, an equipment from the Laboratory of Techniques in Friction and Wear of the Federal University of Uberlandia has been used, the Processing Unit of Pins for Friction (UPPA), which was able to repair things by friction, among them the filling trials (FHPP), which has been modified and implemented a control system of a platform, then allowing to accomplish the trials for coating with steel AISI 420, which are supplied to the controlling program the repairing parameters. The advantages of this technique are the excellent metallurgical bond among the materials associate to a refined structure. Through this technique is possible to apply different types of materials on substrates, resulting in increments on resistance against corrosion or erosion. The base material used was a carbon steel and the material of deposition was made of stainless steel AISI 420. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of the main parameters of the coating process’ variation, through the evaluation of the Scanning Electron Microscopyand Optical Microscopy’smicrostructure of the coated layer’s thickness, microhardness and evaluation of the resistance to the corrosion when submitted the tests of static Corrosion, Erosion and solids-free impingement. The results showed that there was a grain refinement in the affected heat zone, thereby increasing its hardness. The analysis of the coating showed resulted of higher wearand corrosion resistance when compared to the original material of the rod |
