Resumo: The research analyzes the Brazilian industrial policy from 2003 to 2014, with the hypothesis that in the focus on innovation are, at some level, considerations on environmental and sustainability issues, which would correspond to an approximation with the concept of green industrial policy, regarded as the industrial policy that seeks the development associated with environmental concerns. The research uses the literature review method and a comparative analysis using word clouds on the three industrial policies of the period. First, the strands of industrial policy existent in Brazil were defined, denoting its conceptions of the economic environment, along with the role of the state and the importance given to innovation. Subsequently, the concept of green industrial policy is denoted, demonstrating the changes generated by this type of policy, the instruments applied, and its importance for the production structure. It emphasizes the importance and urgency of bringing industrial policy and sustainability closer together; and the experience presented in four countries: India, China, Germany and South Korea. Finally, an analysis of Brazilian industrial policy was carried out, in the period determined by the survey, in relation to the five main elements of the green industrial policy, seeking to analyze them according to the actions of the industrial policy and for other actions outside this scope. It can be concluded that the Brazilian industrial policy of this period did not present an approximation to the concept of green industrial policy.
