Resumo: Due to the growing development in the telecommunications area, much research has boosted the study of microstrip antennas due to their unique properties. These antennas have several advantages because of their flexibility and suitability as the surface of any structure. However, some limitations have been developed for a small bandwidth and low gain. In view of this, in order to minimize losses and increase gain, an EBG (Electromagnetic Band Gap) and PBG (Photonic Band Gap) band structure technology in components such as patch and ground plane of microstrip antennas, promote a better The radiation parameter is antenna. This work proposes the study of the behavior of the radiation resource of the microstrip antenna when inserting the periodic model of Penrose without patch and ground plane of the microfita antenna. They are developed with variation of the radius of this model to periodic to a frequency of 2.45 GHz. In the computational modeling and used in the software ANSYS HFSS® and with an analysis of the simulated results were constructed nine devices, in which they were measured and validated with a simulation . An improvement is observed without behavior of the current density on the patch when inserting these structures, as well as the increase of the total
