Resumo: The Community Mediation Centers Program (PRONUMEC), created by the Public Ministry of Ceará, through Resolution No. 01, of June 27, 2007, proposes the implementation of spaces designed to promote mediation and conflict resolution in a peaceful and dialogued manner. , usually involving community members and trained mediators. Therefore, this research aims to answer the following problem: How does the Community Mediation Center (NUMEC) work in relation to the public judicial policy established by Resolution No. 125/2010? The objective of this work is to evaluate the performance of the Community Conflict Mediation Center of the Municipality of Maracanaú. Specifically, it proposes to verify the activities carried out in mediation in the resolution of community and family conflicts, investigate the degree of satisfaction of the parties involved and the acceptance of mediation as a method of conflict resolution and identify the contribution of mediation to the reduction of demands on the Judiciary and to social peace in the municipality. To this end, a qualitative research approach was applied, of the case study and descriptive types, considering the essential aspects of evaluating social policies in depth (Rodrigues, 2008). Questionnaires were applied to the mediators of the Maracanaú Community Mediation Center and a sample of 20 (twenty) people assisted, as well as the performance of that body was analyzed, based on the 2023 Annual Report, published by the Public Ministry of Ceará. The results point not only to the tangible benefits of mediation in reducing litigation and promoting social peace, but also point to the urgent need for greater institutional support.
