Resumo: This work is the result of a pedagogical proposal that used the Reisado’s festivities in art classes. This proposal aimed to use the Reisado as a form of pedagogical content, with the aim of developing teaching material based on the local Reisado. It was implemented with first-year students from the Governador Adauto Bezerra High School in Massapê, Ceará. The aim was to promote autonomy, creativity, and a greater interaction of students with art in school. The main theoretical frameworks adopted were the following: Oswald Barroso (2010, 2013) in relation to discussions on the Reisado’s festivities, Ana Mae Barbosa (2008,2010) with respect to the importance of valorizing folk art and the Base Nacional Comum Curricular-BNCC (National Common Core Curriculum) with regard to the space and the value of folk artwork in school. The methodology used was based on the details outlined in the proposal, such as conversation groups, practical activities in terms of developing teaching material, field observation, lectures, and the production of Reisado in school and a documentary, among other pedagogical resources. It was concluded that through the use of the Reisado as a form of pedagogical content, there was a legitimization of local art within the educational environment. This approximation of the art classes’ content with the students’ reality resulted in a greater engagement of students with the subject and with school in general. Thus, this pedagogical proposal becomes relevant because it presents a possibility of working with folk art in high school, which can be applied by teachers in other school contexts.
